Mom’s Guide to the Disney100 Exhibition in Kansas City

This post is sponsored by Union Station.

The happiest place on Earth just landed in Kansas City with the opening of the Disney100: The Exhibition being hosted at Union Station open daily, now through November 30, 2024.

One hundred years of Walt Disney history lies within the exhibition with over 250 Disney artifacts, works of art, costumes, props and memorabilia to suit everyone’s favorite Disney movies and eras.

What Kids Will Love at Disney100

The entire exhibition is a feast for the eyes of the young and young at heart. From photo opportunities with The Family Madrigal and a Goofy sculpture, as you walk in, to interactive games and presentations, there is plenty to keep the kids engaged.

Be on the lookout throughout the exhibit for Mickey Mouse-shaped doors at eye level for kids. They ask questions of the kids from various Disney favorites and with a flip open of the doors reveal the answers to the kids to see if they were correct.

Mom Tip: You will exit the exhibit through a gift shop so setting expectations or a budget for souvenirs in advance is ideal.

What Moms Will Love

The exhibition is divided into various galleries so it’s easy to read up on a movie or listen to a soundbite from a video while your children explore the same space. It was also fun to explore the information with my kids and find out things neither of us knew. Learning that much of Josh Gad’s Olaf material from the Frozen movies was improv was an exciting discovery for us all and listening to Let It Go performed by singers in languages around the world was a hit with my daughters.

The entire exhibit takes about an hour to explore so it felt completely manageable to take part in while still leaving time to do other fun activities in and around Union Station.

Mom Tip: If your kids do pull you in a direction before you’re done reading one of the many detailed pieces of information that line the walls, snap a picture of it and you can read it at a later time.

Stroller and Wheelchair Accessibility

Disney100 is being hosted in the Bank of America Gallery located on the lower level of Union Station and accessible by an elevator with built-in ramps to access all points. Strollers are allowed within the exhibition.

Who It’s Best For

Like all things Disney, the Disney100 exhibit is for everyone! You will see people of all ages and walks of life enjoying it with the same smiles on their faces and twinkle in their eyes. There was something for everyone in our family. From my Star Wars-loving son and Marvel-loving husband to my princess-obsessed daughters we all enjoyed it. For me, my goosebumps came when I saw the spell book from Hocus Pocus in the flesh!
