Urban Wineries

Amigoni Winery

After purchasing 10 acres in Centerview, Missouri to grow their own grapes in 2000, the owners of Amigoni opened up a tasting room within the Stockyard District of the West Bottoms to bring their award-winning wines to KC. The beautiful space is perfect for a quick stop, in order to enjoy a tasting and cheese plate. No appointments are necessary, and tours are available upon request or advanced booking.

Wineries with a Little Bit of a Drive, but Worth Visiting

Pirtle Winery

Pirtle’s Winery and tasting room are popular destinations for visitors to historic Weston, Missouri. The winery is located in a Lutheran Evangelical Church. The first floor contains an indoor cellar with a bar and plenty of seating, while a tasting room and gift shop are on the second floor. The best part, however, is the vine-covered wine garden adjacent to the building.

Arcadian Moon

Sitting on 75 acres, just off I-70, near Higginsville, Missouri is Arcadian Moon. Indulge in the quiet tranquility of the property, listen to live music, sip on drinks and taste their wood-fired pizzas for a day away from city life.

Turns out, we wine enthusiasts do not have to travel across the country to taste quality, thoughtfully produced wines, as there are plenty of varieties that are sold right in our own backyards!

Kristin Ruthstrom
Kristin is a Lee’s Summit suburb transplant, after living in the Brookside and Plaza areas for over eight years. Raising three young boys with her husband, Jake, has helped her to embrace the messy, wild side of life where love is expressed in bear hugs and body slams. Professionally, she can be found teaching classes as an adjunct professor in the areas of Business, Marketing and PR. She is able to provide her students with applicable, real-life knowledge as she draws from several years working in the corporate sector. “Free time” (ha!, what's that again?) is spent on an occasional date night to favorite local restaurants, reading blogs on everything from home design to politics, riding her sweet beach cruiser bike and thinking of ways to convince her husband to do yet another home improvement project.
