KC Parks Spring Fling

KC Parks Spring Fling on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 11 AM-3 PM at the Swope Park Bandstand celebrates the end of Earth week by teaching the community ways to incorporate sustainable practices to help make our parks and planet thrive! Attendees will enjoy performances by Stone Lion Puppet Theatre, our Green Carpet Fashion Show, and hands on learning activities for all ages. This event is free and open to everyone.

Throughout the event you can check out our partners who have eco-conscious learning activities for all ages. Featured activities include worm composting, upcycled art making, and more! Exhibitors include: Lakeside Nature Center, Bold Reuse, Re.Use.Full, Missouri Organic Recycling, Cultivate KC, Ripple Glass, and others!

The Green Carpet Fashion Show is made up of community makers of all skill levels and ages who make article(s) of clothing using ecofriendly or sustainable practices. Nina Littrell from Soft Street Sustainable Fashion will be presenting a collection of work as the featured artist of the event. Nina is an environmental activist, maker, natural dyer, and a quilter who works through the medium of garment design.

The open call to be in the fashion show is from February 18-March 18
There is no cost to submit a design or to participate.
Eligibility/Requirements
• All ages
• All skill levels
• Piece must incorporate sustainability (can be made from thrifted items, made with natural dyes, using an item considered trash as an outfit, etc.)
