We had too many weekends this winter where the cold weather kept us inside, and we are more than ready to get outside and play! Naturally, I’m ready for sunshine, warmer days, and Spring Break.
I’ve started making my list of all of the fun activities and places that will be definite must-dos on our Spring Break Fun List. Here are my five favorite Spring Break ideas that are sure to keep your kiddo from saying “I’m bored!”
Take a Nature Hike
Burr Oak Woods is located in Blue Springs and is the perfect place for an outdoor adventure. With six self-guided hiking trails, you and your little ones will find plenty of new places to explore. For added fun, try printing off or downloading a nature scavenger hunt and turn your hike into a game.
Learn a New Skill (or Help Grow a Current One)
The Cooking Station in Lee’s Summit is offering Spring Break Camp classes for kids ages 5 and up. If you’re feeling more like painting than baking, check out AR Workshop’s Spring Break classes. Starlight Theatre offers a Spring Break camp that is sure to give your little drama kid a leg up for next year’s school play. Sunset Trails Stables offers a horseback riding camp for your little cowboys and cowgirls. Code Ninjas helps make learning how to code their favorite video games just as fun as playing them.
Take a Brain Break
Main Event is a great place for you and your kids to unwind, relax, and play together as a family.
Tip: Kids eat free on Tuesdays and be sure to check out their Play All Day specials that are a great way to keep them busy and having fun.
Get Creative
Cocopop is new to Independence and offers an amazing open art studio for kids to paint, craft, and create to their heart’s content. They offer a bright and colorful space where their only creative limit is their own imagination, and you don’t have to worry about spilled paint on the dining room table and glitter in the carpet.
Burn Off Energy
Paradise Park is a great place to let your tiny ball of energy run and play. With everything from mini-golf to go karts, laser tag and escape rooms for the bigger kids, and a discovery play area for toddlers, there is something that will entertain kids of all ages.
