What is Atlas9?

Endless photo opportunities

Atlas9 is an immersive art exhibit with an interactive mystery, live performances, and great food and drinks to boot. You’ll step inside a 90s movie theater and discover hidden rooms and uncover clues in each space to help you solve the mystery of what’s really going on.

Unlike an escape room, the mystery unravels in a non-linear way so you can explore freely and at your own pace. If you are more interested in just exploring and taking pictures (definitely my kid’s preference) that’s totally fine.

Each person wears a wristband that they scan at different touchpoints throughout the space to help track their progress.

Food and Drink

Grab a drink before you enter at this window in the lobby!
  • Cinematic Concessions is a 90s movie theater concession stand with popcorn, nachos, slushies, and more.
  • The Speakereasy is hidden upstairs and offers themed cocktails and other drinks.
  • Splice Bros Pizza sits outside the ticketed area and is a great place to dine before or after you explore the building. They have regular and gluten free pizza as well as appetizers, salads, and desserts. There’s even a free pool table to enjoy while you wait for your food.

Live Performances

Quixotic performers are part of the Atlas9 experience! They typically do larger performances around fifteen minutes past the hour rotating between Auditorium #9 and the Jazz Club. Listen for the overhead announcements letting you know when and where the performances are held. The rest of the time you can find them walking around the exhibit and even handing out candy. Talk to them and maybe they’ll give you hints along the way!

Don’t Miss

Don’t miss the free photo booth to take home a reminder of your visit.
  • There are free arcade games and a photo booth! The pool table inside the pizzeria is also free to play.
  • Explore the van in the lobby before or after you enter for a blast from the past.
  • There are at least two tunnels that you can crawl through to get to another room (but there are other ways to enter if crawling is not your jam!)
  • The gift shop has an option to buy print outs of the movie posters with your image as a souvenir.

Julia Willhite
I'm Julia and I live in Olathe with my husband of 18 years, my 12 and 8 year old daughters, and our rescue pug Mabel. I’m a social worker turned SAHM and love Dr. Pepper, thunderstorms, and talking to other adults. I hate coffee, diet culture, and washing dishes. I'll talk your ear off about the best local parks and which restaurants have wronged me by changing their long-standing menu items. I try to walk the line between knowing a lot of stuff and not being a know-it-all. Some days I'm better than others.
