Summer is the time of year for fun activities like camps, swimming lessons, and vacation Bible school (VBS) in Kansas City. Churches around the metro are offering VBS during the months of June, July, and early August. Some sessions are offered in the morning while others are offered in the evening. This guide is organized by state, city, and date. If the registration form isn’t found at the link provided, reach out to the church to find out how to register.

Vacation Bible School Tips

Ages

Some programs are strictly for elementary aged kids but others include preschoolers or allow even younger children if you volunteer to help with the program.

New to this year’s guide: we’ve added one * to indicate 4 year olds can enroll and ** to indicate 3 year olds can enroll. Preschoolers will need to be potty-trained.

Cost

While most VBS programs are free, some do have a small fee to help offset the costs of the activities. If the cost is a hardship, inquire about scholarships. Most churches want to find a way to include your child, so don’t be afraid to ask.

Curriculum

Many churches use one of this year’s popular new Bible school curriculums, so if you plan to send your child to more than one VBS program you might double check that it’s not the exact same program at both. You can find information about what is included in the curriculum with a quick search online.

If enrolling in VBS at a church that is open and affirming to women and LGBTQ+ folks is important to your family this is a helpful list to find these churches.
