There are no raises or promotions when it comes to the job of motherhood. No parking space next to the door or employee appreciation lunch.
But as fellow mothers, battling in the trenches day in and day out, we know how hard you work – and we want to recognize you for doing the most important job in the world.
Kansas City Moms Blog will once again honor the Kansas City Mother of the Year this May, just in time for Mother’s Day. Once submissions have been received, readers will have the chance to vote on the winning essay. The winning mama will be spoiled by local Kansas City businesses, including a stay at the Southmoreland Bed & Breakfast on the Plaza!
Other prizes include:
- a gondola ride on Brush Creek courtesy of Ambiance on the Water
- $100 gift card to get your sweat on at Mojo Cycling Studio
- $50 gift card to Parlor: A Beauty Bar
- a beautiful mom tea towel from Tammy Smith Designs
- customized Missouri or Kansas cutting board from HMK
Nominations in the form of essays (no longer than 800 words) will be accepted from husbands, fathers, grandmas, grandpas, friends and even kids themselves! Maybe you’d like to nominate a fellow sister who is raising the next generation; or, if you feel deserving of such an honor (and we know you are!), emailing this post to your husband or kids as a gentle nudge is totally acceptable (and even encouraged!). For ideas, check out last year’s winning essays.
Nominations will be accepted online through Friday, April 24.
The top essays will be selected by a panel of judges and published on this site the first week in May. KCMB readers will then be asked to vote on the Kansas City mom most deserving of this year’s honor to be announced Friday, May 8.
So Kansas City, let’s hear it: who are your favorite moms, and why do they deserve some extra recognition this year?
Nominations are now closed.
