History is being made here in Kansas City and we are here for it! A visit to a KC Current game at CPKC Stadium isn’t just a fun family outing – it’s history in the making. Before you head out, there are some important things to know about KC Current game days and CPKC stadium.
The Historic Stadium
CPKC stadium is the World’s FIRST stadium built purposely for ANY Women’s professional sport team. This represents a huge milestone in women’s sports and in women’s history. The stadium, which opened in 2024, was even named one of Time Magazine’s World’s Best Places (the list of 100 also included KC’s Rabbit Hole!).
But it’s not just the stadium making history. The team itself made plenty of their own records during last year’s season. At just 16-years-old, player Alex Pfeiffer became the NWSL’s youngest goal scorer, Temwa Chawinga became the first player in NWSL history to score 20 goals in a season and the team itself finished the season with a league-record 57 goals made by a record breaking 18 different players! That’s what we call KC Baby!
All of this is to say that it is definitely worth taking your family to a game.
KC Current Games vs. Royals Games
Going out to the K for a baseball game is such a classic Kansas City tradition that it’s easy to think of all stadium/game day experiences in terms of Kauffman. Attending a soccer match at CPKC is similarly fun of course, but there are some important differences to be aware of, especially if this is your family’s first trip to a professional league soccer match.
Less Ticket Availability
A women’s soccer season consists of 26 games, with only 13 of those being home games. In addition, CPKC stadium seats 11,500 fans vs Kauffman’s 37,900. Therefore, tickets are harder to come by and starting ticket prices can be more expensive. Expect to pay between $40-70 a ticket on average. However, because the stadium is so much smaller, every seat is within 100 feet of the sideline and has a great view. Get your tickets early. Last season, every match had a sell-out crowd!
Shorter Length of Game
KC Current games consist of two, 45-minutes halves with a 15-minute half-time. Stoppage time (time the clock was stopped due events like injuries) is added to the end of each half. Except for the short half-time, there really isn’t any pause in the action. That means that even though the game is shorter, those with short attention spans can easily miss important game play. In addition, there isn’t a playground or any kid’s activities. You’ll want to save KC Current games for kids that can reasonably sit through the entire game.
Parking is Limited and Public Transit is Encouraged
You will need to make a plan for where you will park and how you will get to the stadium. Currently there are currently only 2,000 parking spaces available at CPKC Stadium. With a capacity of 11,500 fans, that means parking is very limited. There are plans to add more parking in the future and soon the KC Streetcar line will extend to the stadium as well (expected in 2026). For now though, fans are encouraged to utilize the KC Current shuttle, public transit, rideshare and other options to get to and from CPKC Stadium.
When picking a transportation method think about your family’s needs. How far can your kids walk? What will the weather be like? The good news is that strollers are allowed in CPKC and can be checked for free at guest services. Umbrellas (under 33 inches with no points) and water bottles (must be empty at entry) are also allowed.
No matter which option you choose, I recommend always going to the bathroom before leaving, especially at the end of the game! Transit times vary but expect 20 -45 minutes if you are using the shuttle or mass transit. Travel times are usually worse at the end of the match while everyone is leaving at once. Even if you park on-site, be prepared to wait. When my family attended a game, the lot took almost 45 minutes to clear. See more about parking and transit in the Planning Your Visit section below.
No Outside Food or Drink is Permitted
Unlike the Royals, CPKC does not allow ANY outside food or drink. The only exception is milk and/or formula for infants. You may bring in EMPTY water bottles, which can be filled at CPKC’s hydration stations.
Planning Your Visit to CPKC Stadium
Tickets
- Expect to pay between $40-70 a ticket on average. All ticket sales are through Stub Hub.
- Children aged 2 and under do not need a ticket. However, they must sit on the lap of an accompanying adult.
Parking and Transportation
On-Site Parking
On-site parking passes ($50) are limited and must be purchased in advance. NO parking passes can be purchased on-site. If parking passes are available, you can purchase them at the same time as your tickets. The parking lots are accessible via Berkley Pkwy. On matchdays, Berkley Pkwy. is only accessible via I-29 or E. Front St. The Grand Blvd. Bridge and Lydia St. are closed to car traffic.
KC Current Shuttle
If you want to avoid the high parking fee (or can’t get a spot!), you can park off-site and ride the free KC Current Shuttle to the stadium. Just remember to factor in travel time. It usually takes about 10-15 minutes to reach the stadium via shuttle and then after that, there is a short walk to the gates.
Currently there is only one shuttle location (7th and Main) but a second site (2nd and Grand) should open sometime this season when the Grand Blvd Bridge construction is finished. 7th & Main shuttles pick-up and drop-off on the north side of 7th St. between Main and Baltimore. Shuttle buses pick-up and drop-off fans starting 2.5 hours before the match. The last shuttle operates at two hours after the end of the match.
Most KC Current shuttles are ADA accessible. A limited number of golf carts are also available to assist in transporting fans with limited mobility between the shuttle and the gate.
To use the shuttle, you can either park your car in a lot nearby the shuttle pick up or park further away and utilize the free KC Streetcar for transport to a shuttle pick up location. The KC Streetcar system adds extra streetcars to meet match needs and extends operating times as needed during home games. Remember that even though the shuttle and the streetcar are free, you will still have to pay to park in the lot or garage you choose.
Ride Share
If you are using a ride share service, KC Current recommends fans use this address to direct drivers to the designated drop-off and pick-up areas: 996 E. Berkley Pkwy, Kansas City, MO 64106.
Biking or Walking
If you happen to live nearby or you are feeling really adventurous, you can also bike or walk to CPKC stadium. Note that Lydia Ave. between Guinotte Ave. and Berkley Parkway will be closed to all pedestrian, bicycle, scooter and vehicular traffic up to four hours before and two hours after the match.
If you are biking, be aware that the Grand Blvd. Bridge is closed to cyclists. Instead, cyclists are encouraged to use the Town of Kansas Bridge and Riverfront Heritage Trail to get to CPKC Stadium.
KC Current runs a complimentary bike valet program for cyclists which can be found outside the River Gate, on the northwest side of the stadium, just off the Riverfront Heritage Trail. Self-lock bike racks are located here as well.
For walkers, a pedestrian-friendly walking route to CPKC Stadium is accessible via the Town of Kansas Bridge. Access to the bridge, part of the Riverfront Heritage Trail, begins at 2nd and Main in the River Market. Pedestrians are not permitted to walk down to Berkley Riverfront via the Grand Blvd. Bridge or the railroad crossing at Lydia Ave.

Food and Drink
While you can still find some gameday fare at CPKC, the focus is on local, sustainable, plant-forward options. If you have a picky eater, you might want to have them eat before the game. Allergy families rejoice! Most menu offerings are gluten free, and the stadium is peanut free.
No plastic bottlers or cups are sold in the stadium. All cups are reusable and have dedicated return bins. Drink cups are filled (and refilled for free!) at self-serve soda machines.
The main concession stands offer classics like souvenir nachos, popcorn and soda and more unique offerings like Italian hoagies, chicken bacon ranch wraps, cauliflower tikka masala and vegan chocolate pudding.
