Sensory Friendly First Responders Meet and Greet

This is a special event for children & adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or special needs to have an opportunity to meet first responders in our community. Members of the Shawnee Police & Fire Departments, Johnson County Med-Act and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office will be present to show off emergency vehicles and other equipment. This event is by appointment only and participants will have scheduled 1 hour long time slots to visit the various activities. In order to offer a positive experience for all, care will be taken to provide a sensory-friendly environment for visitors.

This indoor event will be held Saturday, April 6th, 2024, from 9 AM until NOON, inside the Shawnee Fire Station 72 truck bay, 5840 Renner Road, Shawnee, Kansas. Parking will be next door at the Shawnee Police Department, 5850 Renner Rd.

Participants will have up to one hour to visit the various stations. Parents and siblings are welcome to attend with their family member. Families with more than one person should sign up for one time slot.
