Family Friendly Hiking in Kansas City

It takes effort to walk a family of five through several miles of trees, rocks, streams, and mud, but we’ve found that hiking allows us to breathe. It enables conversation. It is good for our bodies. It brings laughter. It heals.

Day Trips From Kansas City

COVID-Conscious Day Trips from Kansas City

We live in Kansas City, smack in the middle of the country, so none of my suggestions are going to compare to the serenity of the ocean or to breath-taking mountain vistas, but these Midwest destinations all offer beauty in their own right and quite-frankly, at least it is a place to be and a new experience to devour!

Take A Cross Country Road Trip (with Dinosaurs)… Without Leaving KC

This fun, all ages exhibit walks you through some of America’s favorite landmarks along Route 66 from Seattle to New York. Throw in a couple dozen life-size animatronic dinosaurs that called North America home and you’ve got yourself a crowd-pleasing way to spend a couple hours!

Stop Squabbling Siblings While Staying at Home

The idea to separate the sisters has not been a magic bullet that has ended the fighting. But it has made us more aware that our kids, like us, just need some dang space every once in awhile.

Sarah McGinnity
Sarah grew up in Manhattan, Kansas (Go Cats!), she moved to Minnesota where she met her husband, Shea. Realizing how much she hated snow in May, she convinced him to move to Kansas City in 2010. Together they have lived in Midtown, Waldo, the Plaza, and now Overland Park. Sarah is mom to 10-year-old, Henry, 7-year-old Clark and 5-year-old Lucy. She has her master’s in urban administration and is passionate about making Kansas City a more equitable and supportive community. In between the crazy, she likes to drink coffee, run, hike, travel as much as possible, and experience all things Kansas City!
