Best Neighborhood Lights in Kansas City: Lenexa and Shawnee East

Thanks to University Health for sponsoring
this year’s neighborhood lights guide.

Tis the season for loading all the kids up in the car in their pajamas and driving around to see neighborhood light displays!

This driving route of Lenexa/Shawnee – East has been created to hit a few of the best homegrown light displays in this part of the metro in an efficient order. Plug the addresses below into the app of your choosing or use the legend on our Google map. We hope your family has a blast and makes fun holiday memories!

Mom Pro Tips

  • Friday and Saturday nights are typically the busiest nights, so if you want to feel less rushed to get through the neighborhoods you should visit on a different evening.
  • One of my kids loves to drink hot chocolate while we drive around, but if your kid doesn’t like it or you’re worried about making a mess, I’ve found a little baggie of mini-marshmallows is a great Christmas lights viewing snack!
  • A few of these stops have light shows that are sync’d to a radio station, so take note below of which station to tune to!

Julia Willhite
I'm Julia and I live in Olathe with my husband of 16 years, my 10 and 6 year old daughters, and our rescue pug Mabel. I’m a social worker turned SAHM and love Dr. Pepper, thunderstorms, and talking to other adults. I hate coffee, diet culture, and washing dishes. I'll talk your ear off about the best local parks and which restaurants have wronged me by changing their long-standing menu items. I try to walk the line between knowing a lot of stuff and not being a know-it-all. Some days I'm better than others.
