Processing Grief and Fear After the Chiefs Rally Shooting | Kansas City MomCast Episode 58

Joy and celebration at Kansas City’s Super Bowl Champions Celebration Rally on Feb. 14, 2024, turned to horror as shots were fired at the conclusion of the rally at Union Station. One mom lost her life and as many as 23 people were injured including nine children. We are talking with anxiety therapist, Lindsey Murray, on how to address some of our kids’ (and our own) big questions like “am I safe?”, “Will I be ever be safe in big crowds?” and “I feel scared. What do I do next?”

Meet Lindsey Murray

Lindsey Murray is a Licensed Clinical Psychotherapist and mom of 3. She is specially trained in treating anxiety disorders and other conditions/behaviors that often accompany anxiety. Her therapy approach focuses on helping individuals understand how anxiety works and how they can respond in new & different ways to minimize its interference in their day to day lives. She enjoys working with individuals of all ages, but a significant percentage of her client base includes children, adolescents, teens and their parents. Lindsey believes in building psychological strength and in the idea that understanding how our brains work (and how they can trick us!) can be our own personal super power.

Sarah McGinnity
Sarah grew up in Manhattan, Kansas (Go Cats!), she moved to Minnesota where she met her husband, Shea. Realizing how much she hated snow in May, she convinced him to move to Kansas City in 2010. Together they have lived in Midtown, Waldo, the Plaza, and now Overland Park. Sarah is mom to 10-year-old, Henry, 7-year-old Clark and 5-year-old Lucy.
