These activities are just for the girls — encouraging them in their leadership skills, fostering STEM interest and physical health.
Coding and Cupcakes
Computer programming may not be a common parent-daughter activity, but we’re determined to change that.
During the Web Development workshop, coding duos will envision themselves cupcake shop owners in need of creating a website to show off their baked goods. They’ll learn website building from start to finish, doing everything from displaying their own copy to adding a color theme to suit their tastes to hosting their site on Github Pages. Jewelbots are friendship bracelets for the iPhone era. Technology-enabled jewelry for tween and teen girls, they’re a means of communicating with friends by lighting up when a BFF is near or buzzing to send messages to a pal across the school.

Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run is an after-school program designed to inspire girls of all abilities to recognize and embrace their inner strength. Lessons emphasize the important connection between physical and emotional health. Through safety modifications and virtual programming, dedicated and trained staff are ready to adapt to local community needs. At the end of the program, girls complete a 5K, which provides a tangible sense of accomplishment, setting a confident and goal-oriented mindset into motion. Find a chapter near you.

Young Women on the Move
Young Women on the Move was founded in 2005 to teach middle school and high school girls the attitudes, behaviors, and skills necessary to lead a healthy life in every aspect. Its name symbolizes girls moving toward the future with healthy minds, bodies, and spirits that are focused on life’s possibilities. Girls in the urban core often face extreme environmental stressors and low expectations for achieving their potential. YWOM instills a foundation of moral values, character, and an affirming self-belief system with individualized support, counseling, mentoring, team building, goal setting, and accountability. Girls learn to enhance their decision making and problem solving skills, physical and mental health, social and communication skills, and academic and career preparation. Learn More
