Summer Fun at Zona Rosa

This post is sponsored by Zona Rosa.

Zona Rosa is my family’s favorite place to shop, dine and play in the Northland. They have a full line-up of free summer fun from concerts to movies, festivals and more. Bookmark this page to keep your summer bucket list full of ideas all summer long.

Sip into Summer Crawl, May 18

Grab your shopping buddies and head to Zona for the Sip into Summer Crawl from noon to 4 pm. Participating stores will have local pop-ups and gifts with purchase. Sip wine slushes & coolers, nosh on snacks and shop the latest in summer styles.

Festa Italiana, May 31-June 2three kids in front of Festa Italian sign

Festa Italiana is the unique celebration of Italian traditions and Italian-American culture in Kansas City, held at Zona Rosa’s North Park. Enjoy an amazing assortment of Italian food favorites, great entertainment on the main stage all weekend, an Italian Motorsports Show, Strawberry Swing Indie Craft Fair, bounce houses for kids and much more. FREE admission, food & beverages available for purchase. Festa Italiana is the largest fundraiser for UNICO KC. UNICO is an Italian-American service organization that raises funds for college scholarships for area high school students. This year, $56,000 will be awarded during Sunday’s ceremony.

Mom Tip

Purchase the all-day wrist band for bounce houses if you plan to stay awhile as the kids won’t want to leave! Grab yourself a bellini or Italian lemonade and let the kids wear themselves out! Make sure to stop by Scola’s Italian cookies for a treat to take home.

Push the summer bedtime a little later and catch a movie in North Park (green space across from Dillards). Come early to eat dinner at one of the Zona Rosa restaurants offering discounts or grab a snack/treat at the food trucks and beer garden. Movies start around 8:45 p.m.

Coffee Club

Grab your mom friends and playdate pals and head to Zona Rosa’s Central Park on Thursdays from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. all summer long. Enjoy coffee from the Brew HaHa Coffee House truck. Select Thursdays will have special activities and guests planned during The Coffee Club, check out the full list here.

Mom Tip

Bring a towel and change of clothes for the kids as they’ll want to play in the fountains!

Patios/Kid Friendly Dining

Need a break from feeding the kids all day every day? Zona Rosa has some great options for kid friendly dining and some great patio options for the summer!

  • 54th Street’s patio is one of our favorite spots for a family fun night with pickleball courts, yard games and kid-friendly fare.
  • Anejo Mexican Cuisine’s rooftop patio is now open!
  • My kids devour the bread, pizza and pasta at Bravo Italian Kitchen and their patio is the perfect spot to watch the summer concerts!
  • Breakfast for dinner always hits the spot and IHOP is now open!

New Shops

Zona Rosa continues to add a diverse mix of tenants from local to national brands. We’re excited about the recent additions of so many locally owned boutiques and some great options for kids:

  • Owen & Graham – elevated baby-to-tween shop selling gifts, accessories & apparel for baby, girl, boy & tweens.
  • The Parlor Boutique – fun and quirky on-trend & size inclusive clothing and accessories as well as vintage & designer apparel.
  • Toy Time – a locally owned toy store with this third location in Kansas City.
  • Kids Empire (opening end of 2024) – indoor kids playground.
