Several years ago my husband introduced me to the Prairie Village area, and I fell in love. We settled into an adorable Cape Cod and set our first roots together. But, as it happens when you make tiny humans, we outgrew our space and the need for more space was on. House number two is just a mile away from our first home and still nestled in the heart of PV. We adore the quaint houses, active neighborhoods, and easy access to all parts of the city.
But there is often as much risk as there is reward in owning the older homes that grace the PV streets. We quickly found out that our new abode needed some work and we set out to hire several different contractors. We had some great contractors and several less than great ones- that didn’t show up, changed prices, or simply drug the jobs out.
With one last project on our wish list I was wary about starting the contractor search until I heard about Zaarly. Zaarly offers a quick an easy search of various skilled contractors that have been thoroughly vetted for performance, insurance, and customer satisfaction. It’s worth a shot I thought, and the husband said “this one is all yours,” in sheer exhaustion from the other work.
The Project – Dog Run to Fire Pit
The previous owners had a dog run along the side of yard. It was pretty unsightly and even worse when we tore out the chain link to put up our privacy fence. We were planning to host my son’s first birthday in the backyard, and I needed that space cleaned pronto. There was existing concrete that needed to be pulled out and a ton of other junk to be hauled away. We had about a 4-week turnaround to get the space tidied. But, in typical fashion, the hubs wanted us to get the space done for the long term. We discussed putting in an extra patio with a possible fire pit but had no idea where to get started.
Finding Help with Zaarly
Enter our Zaarly search! The website is incredibly easy to use. I didn’t even know that what we were looking for was called ‘hardscaping’ until I started perusing the contractor pages. I set up an account and was able to quickly contact three providers through the online portal. Within a week, I had met with or talked to all three. They were all more than qualified, detailed, and straightforward. It was hands down the easiest search and settle on a provider that we had done to date.
Further, a member from the Zaarly team checked in with us every so often to see how things were going, if we needed any support in either our search or hire, and once booked how the job was going! It was really nice to have another party concerned about our job that could offer support and insight on working with our provider.
Our contractor was great about working with our timeline and worked some extra-long days to get everything done in time for the party! The final product was beautiful and created an extra nice space.
Finishing Up
Zaarly offered the opportunity to pay through their site. This service didn’t work great for our job since it was such a big project and we would have preferred to pay after all parts were completed. However, Zaarly representatives were open to our feedback and really took the customer experience into consideration. I can see how for smaller jobs the autopay feature would really eliminate the headache for contractors seeking payment and customers remembering to add another to-do the list.
We will totally be using Zaarly to seek out providers in the future. It’s nice to have an efficient way to sort through providers and having the back up support to get the job done.
Thank you so much, Tiffany! We are so glad you enjoyed using Zaarly. And thanks to your suggestion we’ve made some changes! We love customer feedback and are always listening – it’s what helps us make something that is the perfect resource for homeowners.
Thanks again 🙂
