Infants and Emotions with KCU Baby Lab | Kansas City MomCast Episode 51

Join us for a two part interview today! First, hear from Dr. Nicki Zieber of Kansas City Baby Lab about the latest in infant research on processing emotions. Parents with infants can get involved in the research by contacting KCU Baby Lab. Parents who participate in the study following their child from 3 months up to 15 months receive a total of $275 in Amazon gift cards for completing all four visits!

Following that, you’ll hear from KCMC Events Director, Jamie Young, about the upcoming KC Mom + Baby event for new and growing families!

Meet Dr. Nicki Zieber

Dr. Nicole Zieber is an assistant professor and grant-funded researcher at Kansas City University. She obtained her Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology at the University of Kentucky where she conducted research on a variety of topics: infants’ use of grouping principles in visual perception, how infants process faces and bodies, and how infants perceive emotion from body movements. Her current position with Kansas City University allows for the next phase of the grant research on emotion detection to be completed over the next 3 years as an independent investigator. The study will utilize eyetracking methodology and relate how a low-level perceptual process (emotion detection) relates to social outcomes in the 2nd year of life.

Megan Coffey
Hi! I'm Megan, former teacher turned stay-at-home-but-never-home mom to Peyton, 7, and Gage, 4. I host the Kansas City MomCast podcast! I'm married to the most patient person on this earth, Chris, and we live in Overland Park with our kids, an insane lab, and two guinea pigs. You can find me over committing to everything, reading informational and self-help texts, listening to podcasts, organizing, spending time with friends over margaritas, thrifting, and staying up way too late to have peace and serenity. I love people and hearing their stories and look forward to connecting with KCMC readers!
