Bedtime in our house centers around books. Whether it’s reading Harry Potter outloud to my oldest or diving into the world of super heroes, princesses, and animals with my younger two, books have always been central to our routine.Goodnight My Love

We recently had the opportunity to review Kansas City author Debbie Bryant‘s new bedtime book, Good Night, My Love.

As bedtime nears, the animals all retire to their beds… or engage in pillow fights! The puppies cuddle up in the castle, the red pandas get silly and start a pillow fight, the sea turtles swim and the sleepy puffins watch the Northern Lights as the drift off to sleep. Travel the world with the animals as you see how they go to bed.

Both of 4 and 5 year old loved this book and asked to read it again. I enjoyed reading it because of the natural rhyming cadence of the words. And the cute illustrations had us all smiling.

Beneath the moonbeams,
Seven turtles glide,
To their seagrass bed,
To sleep side by side.

My kids’ favorite page, though, was the final one where you can see all the animals asleep in their beds. They loved picking their favorites, and even finding animals that matched some of their stuffed animal friends!

The author, Debbie Bryant, is a student of graphic design and art media which explains the whimsical illustrations. She enjoys cartooning on her iPad and drawing her pet Westie, Molly.

Once you have fallen in love with the book, Debbie’s website includes coloring sheets and fun animal facts to extend the fun!
