Ahoy! My name is Brendan O’Shaughnessy, and I’m the Captain of Ocean & Sea — a clothing and lifestyle brand docked in the Heartland of the USA; Kansas City.
We exist to help encourage others to realize their dreams, despite the odds that are against us all. Through each crafted product we produce our hope is that this message will positively impact and change lives for the better.
Since I was a young boy I dreamed of being a pirate. Seven days a week, it was pirate pants, treasure maps and my imagination as my guide. It was true unadulterated happiness. I think on some level we can all relate to the purity of dreams as a child. Yet, as Peter Pan warned us — somewhere along the way we grow up and forget about our dreams.
It’s time to dream again and I’m welcoming anyone who desires to rekindle their own dreams to join me in creating that freedom. I’m seeking help from dreamers across the world to build my dreams and in unison help build your own. Ocean & Sea is embarking on a journey to build a sailboat — with a twist. This sailboat will be landlocked, it will function as a mobile Ocean & Sea pop-up shop through which we will sell our clothing, prints, accessories and lifestyle goods.
As a Captain, your vessel is the avenue to reach your next destination and my desire is to use this sailboat as a symbol of hope for others that dreams do come true. If you’re crazy enough to believe, anything is possible.
When our sailboat is complete, we will hitch our vessel to a vehicle and sail the plains of the USA—coast to coast. The sky is the limit. Through our sailboat we will sail to schools, universities, festivals and dock street side invoking people to pursue their own dreams.
Through interactive art workshops, partnerships with strategic non-for-profits and giving back to local communities through our array of sea-worthy goods, we hope to continue inspiring for generations to come.
The desire to run a clothing brand runs deep in my history. When I was 17 years old, I owned and operated my first brand for over a decade. However this brand ended two years ago when I received a case and desist letter that would change my voyage forever. This was a temporary setback that inspired the launch of Ocean & Sea — based on our last name — O’Shaughnessy.
