Best Neighborhood Light Displays in Kansas City

christmas lights on house

Thanks to University Health for sponsoring this year’s neighborhood lights guide.

Looking at Christmas lights is a tradition that I know many of us enjoy with our families. I love a good walk around the Plaza to look at the lights, or a visit to the Mayor’s Christmas Tree at Crown Center, but sometimes you just need to put on your holiday jammies, grab a hot chocolate, and drive around with the heat blasting in search of great, homegrown light displays!

Here’s a roundup of some of the best neighborhood light displays in the Kansas City area to get you started. We encourage you to get out and explore and find other neighborhood displays to enjoy as new ones pop up each year.

Be sure to check out our Google Map with all of our recommended stops and routes.

Julia Willhite
I'm Julia and I live in Olathe with my husband of 18 years, my 12 and 8 year old daughters, and our rescue pug Mabel. I’m a social worker turned SAHM and love Dr. Pepper, thunderstorms, and talking to other adults. I hate coffee, diet culture, and washing dishes. I'll talk your ear off about the best local parks and which restaurants have wronged me by changing their long-standing menu items. I try to walk the line between knowing a lot of stuff and not being a know-it-all. Some days I'm better than others.
